What is a credit?: Credits are a dollar balance you spend on answers. Each answer takes a little from it based on how much text the AI reads and writes ($13 per million input tokens, $1.30 when cached, $65 per million output tokens). Opening files and viewing charts is free, and a request that is refused before the AI runs costs nothing.
How many answers do I get?: A subscription is $5/month and includes $5 of usage every month — about 100 answers at the typical cost of about $0.05 each. Answers that share many columns, return long results or follow a long chat cost a bit more; short ones cost less. Your balance and an estimate of the answers left are always shown in the app.
Do I need an account?: No to try it. Guests get $0.25 of credits (about 5 answers) without signing in; guest credits expire 7 days after they are issued. Your files and chats stay in your own browser, so there is nothing to clean up on our side. Sign in with Google to subscribe — signing in does not upload the files already open in this browser.
Does included usage roll over?: No. Each month's $5 of included usage resets on your next billing date, and unused included usage does not carry over. Credits you buy separately stay until they expire.
Do purchased credits expire?: Credits you buy last 12 months after your last purchase — every top-up extends the rest of your purchased credits too. If your subscription ends, purchased credits stay usable until they expire.
Can I cancel?: Yes, anytime from Settings → Manage billing. Your subscription and this month's included usage continue until the end of the current billing period, and it does not renew after that. You can resubscribe whenever you want.
Can I get a refund?: Unused purchased credits can be refunded on request within 14 days of purchase — email help@askcsv.com from the address on your account. Subscription charges are handled under the terms and applicable law, including withdrawal rights where they apply (for example in the EU, UK or Korea). Canceling stops future renewals.
Where does my file go?: It stays in this browser. AskCSV opens it and runs every query here, so the file itself is never uploaded. AskCSV also keeps what the AI sees to a minimum: to write the SQL and explain the answer, the AI (OpenAI) gets only your question, the file's name and row count, the columns you choose to share with up to 10 sample rows, up to 100 rows of each query result plus summary figures, and the earlier messages in the chat. You can delete a file in Settings, or by clearing this site's data.
